Q.

A.

What was the interval of time between your receiving this offer and

making the report to me?

As soon as I told him

Adam

to use a slang phrase "nothing doing" I walked

into your office and reported to you.

Did I take any action?

You did.

Q. What?

A.

A.

Q.

A.

Q.

You black listed him?

What did that consist of?

Adding his name to a list which appears near the main doorway.

office been approached with a view to having that name removed?

Q. You mentioned you were formerly editor of the Far Eastern Economic

A.

Yes, it was formerly the Far Eastern Economic & Commerical Journal and at

the beginning of last year I found the name too cumbersome and changed

it to Far Eastern Journal.

Q.

When did the last issue appear under your editorship?

A.

Q.

After you had joined the Immigration Office I think you and I had a con-

versation on the subject of the propriety of your continuing to act as

Etant Editor of the Journal?

A, Quite right; and as a result, on your instructions, I gave it up entirely.

The Journal is no longer being published.

Q.

A.

Q.

I supplied you with a copy of the Gener. 1 Order bearing on the point?

Yes.

In any of your capacities whether as a journalist, as a public man in any

sense or as a member of my department do you think you have incurred the

enmity of any person?
